It’s hard to believe that this comic has finally, actually continued. A great many jokes can (and will) be made about the lateness of this title. Sure the first issue was out in December of 2005 and here we are in the year 2009 getting the third issue. The original ship date was for April 19, 2006. It’s almost been three years. But that seems to be par for the course for comics lately. Daredevil: The Target, Spider-Man / Black Cat, The Ultimates, Ultimatum, Hulk, Thor, All Star Batman and Robin the Boy Wonder, the relaunch of Wonder Woman by Allan Heinberg, Richard Donner’s run on Action Comics, All Star Superman, Planetary, Fell, Astro City, Grant Morrison’s & Jim Lee’s Wildcats, Grant Morrison’s & Gene Ha’s Authority, Civil War, Final Crisis, Final Crisis: Legion of Three Worlds, Astonishing X-Men, Powers, Scud the Disposable Assassin, Big Numbers #3, Steven R. Bissette’s Tyrant, Spider-Man: One More Day, newuniversal, Desolation Jones, the list could go on and on and on.
Anyway that shouldn’t factor on this issue’s enjoyment. It continues with Wolverine ripped in two and the Hulk threatening to eat Wolverine’s legs. Yu’s art is amazing, it doesn’t quite match up to the previous two issues, but after all this time I think he’s actually improved with all the work that he’s done over that stretch. With a full run on New Avengers (for a year and a half now) and Secret Invasion under his belt, Yu’s been a busy person waiting to finish this series. It will be interesting to see where the rest of this miniseries goes. Whether or not it was worth the wait, I’ll decide once I have the last issue in my hands. (Shane Hnetka)
