The Thunderchickens withdraws from Zuda

You may have already heard the news if you watch the Zuda Web site, but on the evening of Thursday, January 23, 2010, I announced that Bill (3!LL) and I were withdrawing from the Zuda contest. Rest assured, The Thunderchickens will continue elsewhere in the near future. I will post updates on my blog (http://caperaway.wordpress.com) as new plans take shape.

I want to extend a big thanks to everyone that supported The Thunderchickens and helped us stay #1 to very day we withdrew. This list of supporters includes my family, my friends (Kirk in particular but the rest of you too), professional creative partners (Manuel, Owen, Dino, Ed, and all the rest), The Leader-Post, Jack FM, Global TV, CBC Radio, The Prairie Dog, The ThunderChickens Robotics Club, University of Regina School of Journalism, ComicReaders Regina (Dana, Shane, Greg, and all the patrons that offered their support and votes), Balfour Collegiate, Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild, and Regina Public Library (big thanks to Warren and Jessica). I also want to give a shout out to the Zuda regulars that voted for and supported The Thunderchickens.

If I think of anyone else I will be back to update this post, but if my memory is not jogged please do not think my omission is a sign that I did not appreciate your support. I appreciated it greatly. (Chad Boudreau)

The Thunderchickens is still #1

We passed the midway point in the January 2010 edition of the Zuda comics competition. Three sets of ranks have been released and in each case The Thunderchickens was in the coveted #1 spot. If it can stay #1 until the end of January its creators, including Regina writer Chad Boudreau, will win the competition. That means they get a contract from DC Comics to continue The Thunderchickens. If you have not already done so check out The Thunderchickens at http://www.zudacomics.com/node/1664 and cast your vote.

The creators also recently released the official Thunderchickens press and fan kit. You can view that here: http://www.bohemian-zen.com/main/Thunderchickens/webcomics.php.

Vote for the Thunderchickens!

The ThunderchickensRegina’s own Chad Boudreau is the co-creator of The Thunderchickens, one of ten comics competing in the January edition of the Zuda Comics contest.

Zuda Comics is the brainchild of DC Comics. Each month, ten comics vie for public votes. The winner is the comic that gets the most votes. The winning creative team gets a contract with DC Comics to continue their story.

This is a big opportunity for Chad so please go to www.zudacomics.com and cast your vote for The Thunderchickens. You can also add The Thunderchickens to your Zuda “favorites” to further show your support.

Art, colors and lettering on The Thunderchickens is by William Dean Blakenship Jr., who also goes by the online handle of 3!LL when he publishes comics in digital format.

The January competition runs until January 29, 2010, but the sooner you vote the better.
