It’s been a while since I’ve read a comic by Ian Edgintion. The last time would have to be his brief X-Force run back in the early 2000’s. I’ve heard good things about his Scarlet Traces series but I haven’t gotten around to reading them yet. He also has done some comic adaptations of Sherlock Holmes stories so he has some familiarity with the character.

This Wildstorm comic proclaims that this series is Sherlock Holmes vs zombies! It’s set in an alternate 1800’s London where a meteor has crashed and infected some residents with a zombie like plague. It’s covered up and several years later the readers find Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson fighting an automata (robot) that seems to know Holmes personally. Meanwhile some workers accidentally uncover the zombies thus re-releasing the plague.

Edington has taken a different approach with this comic making it more of a mystery rather than the standard zombie story. Holmes wants to solve this mysterious plague rather shooting the undead in the brain. Of course this is a six issue series and things could change quickly. Still this issues is intriguing enough that I’m curious to see where Edington is taking this story. (Shane Hnetka)
